Rise and shine! Today we venture even further into Iceland’s epic southeast landscapes. Our first stop: Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon, where massive icebergs float like sculptures in the glacial waters. Wander along Diamond Beach, where chunks of glacier ice glisten like scattered gems on black volcanic sand. It’s surreal, it’s magical, and it’s one of those moments you’ll want to bottle up forever.
Next, we head to Múlagljúfur Canyon, a hidden gem that feels straight out of a fairytale. Think mossy cliffs, mist-shrouded waterfalls, and the kind of silence that humbles you. We’ll hike approximately 5 km through this dramatic landscape—keep your eyes open, because it wouldn’t be crazy to imagine a dragon lurking behind a waterfall!
By late afternoon, we return to Kirkjubaejarklaustur for the night. Relax, grab a hot drink, and relive the day’s adventures with your fellow travelers. With scenery like this, it’s impossible not to feel both exhilarated and a little humbled by Iceland’s raw beauty.
Tip: Bring your camera (or just your phone) but also take a few moments to soak it all in with your own eyes—these views are unforgettable
Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon Visit
1h-2h |3km
Visit the Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon with views of the ice cap. The lake is the lowest point in the country and filled with icebergs drifting towards the sea, often with seals lounging on top. The blocks of ice coming off the glacier are typically 30m high, in dramatic shades of white and bright blue. Stop by Diamond Beach, which gets its name from chunks of the Breiðamerkurjökull glacier that float down to the coast's black sand shores.
Múlagljúfur Canyon Hike
5km
Hike into Múlagljúfur, a beautiful canyon in southeastern Iceland. There are two waterfalls falling into the canyon called Hangandifoss and Múlafoss. Walk up a mist shrouded hill with green stretching for miles, feel the mist from the waterfalls plunging off the mountain, and enjoy the spectacular wildness of Iceland.
