Flight disruptions are never ideal, but being prepared can make all the difference. If your flight is delayed or canceled, here’s what to do—and how we can assist.
✈️ Step-by-Step: What to Do if Your Flight is Delayed or Canceled
Monitor Your Flight Status: Use the airline’s app, website, or airport monitors to stay updated. Notifications often come through the app first.
Use the Airline App to Rebook: If your flight is canceled or severely delayed, try rebooking through the airline app before getting in line or calling. This can be the fastest way to secure alternate flights.
Speak to Airline Representatives: If you’re already at the airport, head to the airline counter or customer service desk. Agents there may be able to rebook or provide options not visible online. Lines can be long, so act quickly and politely.
Know Your Rights—But Set Realistic Expectations: In some cases, you may be eligible for compensation, meals, hotel stays, or rebooking help depending on airline policy and cause of delay. However, these benefits aren’t guaranteed and can be time-consuming to claim. Each airline has different rules, and support levels vary based on staffing and flight load.
📞 Keep Northstar Travel Company in the Loop
You'll need to work directly with the airline as it's a group booking and once you check in or are in destination, the airline/airport take control of the booking leaving us with few options on our side. However, we'd love to know what's going on and to be kept in the loop.
Do note, our business hours are 9 AM to 5 PM Central time, but you can leave us a message and we will get back to you when we are back in the office.
