Departure to the southern coast of Iceland, visiting Seljalandsfoss and Skógafoss waterfalls.
Today you will drive along the south coast of Iceland, one of the country’s most scenic regions, as far as Vík, a charming village surrounded by high beautiful bird cliffs. Among the stops today are at the gorgeous Seljalandsfoss and Skógafoss waterfalls.
What makes Seljalandsfoss so famous and interesting is that you can walk behind it. We recommend you bring either a raincoat or a waterproof coat along if you want to walk behind it.
If you have extra time at Seljalandsfoss, we suggest you follow the walking path for 5 minutes, which goes to the left of Seljalandsfoss. This will take you to the hidden waterfall Gljúfrabúi (the one who lives in the canyon). To reach this waterfall, it is important that you have fully waterproof shoes, which reach above your ankles, because you must walk through the water in the canyon to reach this hidden gem!
Skógafoss, another famous Icelandic waterfall, was also used in the films Thor: The Dark World and The Secret Life of Walter Mitty. Skógafoss is often an ideal location to stop for lunch, but make sure this fits into your schedule for the day.
