Sevilla is a city rich in history, and you’ll be exploring all the local legends with your native guide, all while taking in the must-see sites: the Royal Alcazar, the Cathedral Santa Maria de la Sede, and the mythical Barrio de Santa Cruz.
Start out with skip-the-line tickets to the Royal Alcazar, which holds a thousand years of history inside! This palace is made up of several parts, and your guide will point out the beautiful tiles, majestic inner courtyards, and intricate Arabic writings carved into the frieze. Learn all about the years of Moorish reign in Andalucia, all while taking in the lush and beautiful gardens.
Feel free to ask as much as you’d like, as your guide knows everything there is to know, from where the floor stones came from to all the different types of flowers to be found! (Including some of the Game of Thrones sets that were used in the HBO series!)
As you leave the Alcazar behind, you’ll follow the winding streets into the vibrant Barrio de Santa Cruz, a remnant of the medieval city where many Moors and Jews once resided. See the remains of the old Moorish wall that used to surround the city and get lost in the maze of streets lined with colorful houses.
Finally, you’ll arrive at the beautiful Cathedral Santa Maria de la Sede, an iconic structure that defines the Sevilla skyline. The cathedral was built over the site of the ancient mosque and is now the third-largest cathedral in the world, housing the tomb of Christopher Columbus.
