Lion Monument (Löwendenkmal) – Iconic stone carving of a dying lion, very moving. You could combine with a short walk through the adjacent Glacier Garden (Gletschergarten) with its rock formations and mirrors.
Chapel Bridge (Kapellbrücke) & Water Tower – The symbol of Lucerne; a covered wooden bridge with 17th-century paintings. I think you will love this leisurely stroll, and the bridge is iconic!
Old Town (Altstadt) – Cobblestone streets, colorful frescoed buildings, fountains. Combine with shopping or a relaxing coffee break.
Jesuitenkirche - This is a lovely, ornate Catholic church with pink and white stucco decorations and ceiling frescos. Very close to chapel bridge and worth a peak!
Lucerne, while large enough to have plenty to do, still has a sort've quaint feel to it. You can find excellent restaurants and food opportunities here. For easing off the fasting, I believe Lucerne presents a good opportunity to be able to find the eating options you would want, which may be much harder to find in smaller areas.
