Breakfast at your hotel.
This morning, depart Galway and travel to the west coast ferry port for a scenic crossing to the Aran Islands. Your destination is Inis Mór, the largest of the three islands and the cultural heart of this windswept archipelago.
The Aran Islands are famed for their rugged limestone landscapes, ancient archaeological sites, and strong Irish‑speaking (Gaeltacht) traditions. Life here moves at a gentler pace, shaped by centuries of folklore, fishing heritage, and the iconic stone walls that crisscross the island in intricate patterns. Inis Mór, in particular, is known for its dramatic Atlantic views, traditional cottages, and deep connection to Gaelic culture.
Upon arrival, you’ll join a guided minibus tour showcasing the island’s most significant sites. A highlight is Dún Aonghasa, a spectacular prehistoric stone fort perched on 300‑foot cliffs overlooking the Atlantic Ocean. Dating back over 3,000 years, it is one of Europe’s most remarkable ancient structures and offers unforgettable panoramic views.
Throughout the tour, you’ll experience traditional island life, learn about local customs, and enjoy the raw beauty of the Aran landscape. Lunch is on your own today, with time to dine at a local café or restaurant before returning to the ferry.
In the afternoon, you’ll travel back to the mainland and transfer onward to Galway.
