Mobile Passport Control (MPC) is a free program from U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) that allows eligible travelers to submit their passport and customs declaration information via a mobile app before they reach the inspection booth. This can help reduce wait times when entering the United States at participating airports and seaports.
Who can use MPC
- U.S. citizens
- U.S. lawful permanent residents
- Certain eligible visitors as defined by CBP
How it works
- Download the app: Install the official "Mobile Passport Control" app from the Apple App Store or Google Play.
- Create a profile: Enter your passport details for each traveler in your group.
- On arrival: When your flight or cruise arrives at a participating U.S. port of entry, open the app and select your arrival airport or seaport.
- Submit your info: Answer the standard customs declaration questions and submit your information through the app.
- Receive your receipt: You will receive a digital receipt with a QR code in the app.
- Proceed to inspection: Follow airport or port signage for Mobile Passport Control and present your passport(s) and QR code to the CBP officer.
Important notes
- You must still bring your physical passport; MPC does not replace your passport.
- All travelers, including children, must be added to the MPC submission to use the lane together.
- MPC does not guarantee shorter processing time in every situation, but it often speeds up the entry process where available.
- Availability varies by airport and cruise port; check the app or CBP website for a current list of participating locations.
- MPC is separate from Global Entry or TSA PreCheck and does not provide security screening benefits.
Before you travel
- Download the app and set up your profile in advance.
- Confirm that your arrival airport or seaport supports Mobile Passport Control.
- Ensure your phone is charged on arrival so you can access your QR code.
Always follow on-site instructions from CBP officers and airport or port staff, and have your travel documents ready for inspection.
