A Little History
Saint Lucia changed hands between the British and French 14 times before Britain finally secured it in 1814, more times than any other Caribbean island. That back-and-forth left a wonderfully layered culture: the island drives on the left (British), speaks English officially, but its Creole patois, place names, and cuisine are distinctly French.
