Visit the Poas Volcano National Park.
The Poas is a volcano that rises to 2,708 meters above sea level. Since 1989, it has markedly increased the emission of gases causing acid rain phenomena that have damaged the flora in some sectors of the Park and surrounding agricultural plantations in the area.
You will be able to visit only the main crater for approximately 20 minutes. Today, the volcano emits a large amount of gas and water vapour from the different fumaroles that are in the inner cone of the crater.
Important: You will need an identification document to enter (applies to nationals and foreigners). The volcano has constant activity, so the visit is subject to restrictions and/or cancellations without prior notice.
