In 1991 Prince Carlo Caracciolo and his wife Violante Visconti hired the famous architect Gae Aulenti to convert the ancient 17th century barn into a sober and elegant villa.
The well-known painter Tullio Pericoli was also part of the project. The jewel enclosed within the estate walls is without a doubt the five acre romantic garden. Initially designed by Lauro Marchetti, curator of the gardens of Ninfa, and was later developed and maintained by the famous English landscape designer Dan Pearson.
Pure freedom seems to be the philosophy behind this “sauvage-soigné” garden , in its palette of green and white enhanced with touches of blue and pink. Here is the art of subtle gardening where the human hand erect imperceptibly to maintain a feeling of wild nature.
Flowers of pure white are provided by the wisteria "Floribunda”, hydrangeas, jasmine, "Sally Holmes", "Iceberg", and "Alfred Carrière" roses, foxgloves, japanese anemones, columbines and annuals for the flowerbeds.
