The ancient Inca citadel of Machu Picchu is the star attraction of Peru – the “crown jewel” of South America. Machu Picchu is considered to be one of the world’s finest examples of landscape architecture. Discovered over a 100 years ago, archaeologists are still trying to solve the mystery of why the Incas built it. When traveling in Machu Picchu elevations are above 7,900 ft+, considerations must be made if you suffer from certain health conditions, i.e.: high blood pressure, heart conditions and chromic migraines. Consult your personal physician before travel if you suffer from any conditions that may be exacerbated by high altitudes.
