The Alentejo. Summer 2027.
Remember when summer ran long and gold and a little feral? When the only plan was no plan, the kids came back filthy and happy, and dinner was a long table under the trees that nobody wanted to leave? Most parents are pretty sure that summer is gone, or that it only ever existed in their own childhood. It isn't, and it didn't. We just had to go to a stone estate in the Portuguese countryside to find it.
This is two weeks at Torre de Palma, a wine estate in the Alentejo. One property, twelve families, the whole thing handled. You don't plan a thing. That isn't a tagline, it's the deal. We build all of it, down to the last detail, and then we get out of the way so the days can do what summer days are supposed to do.
The cohort is the point. Every one of those twelve families is chosen on purpose, as interesting and as intentional as yours. Nobody is herding anybody. The only things on the schedule are the ones you choose to be on, and skipping the afternoon to read by the pool is a completely respectable way to spend it.
What fills the two weeks isn't entertainment, it's the place itself. A morning in a Portuguese kitchen with someone's grandmother, flour to the elbows. An afternoon in the homes of Alentejano families, at someone else's table, in a language you mostly don't speak and somehow follow anyway. A morning of real work giving something back to the town nearby. A skill you actually finish and carry home. A night under some of the darkest skies in Europe with someone who can name what you're looking at. A farewell feast on the last night with everyone who made the trip what it was. And a photographer in the background the whole time, so you're in the picture instead of the one taking it.
