Our flight arrives in the morning and while your room may not be ready yet, you can leave your luggage at the hotel with the front desk or bell captain and get out to explore.
We usually schedule a hop on hop off bus for our first day in any city, after an overnight flight so that we can get our bearings in the city with a narration along the route. Check out this 1 day hop on/hop off bus tour. There are 3 different routes so you can also get a 2 day pass good for 48 hours These will be available to book toward the end of July.
PLEASE KEEP IN MIND THAT WE WILL BE SEEING
Royal Palace and Almudena Cathedral
Gran Vía and Plaza de España.
AND we have a visit into the Prado Museum, one of the most important art collections in Europe, with masterpieces from artists like Goya, Velázquez, and El Greco.
If you like to explore on your own, here are some ideas

Late morning / lunch
Walk through Retiro Park: rent a rowboat on the Estanque or stroll to the Crystal Palace.
Have lunch in the Barrio de las Letras or La Latina — look for tapas bars or a menú del día at a local tavern.

Visit the Reina Sofía for modern art, including Picasso’s Guernica, if you prefer contemporary art to the Prado.
Evening
Watch the sunset at the Temple of Debod or from the rooftop terrace of Círculo de Bellas Artes.
Enjoy dinner in the Chueca or Salamanca neighborhoods for varied dining options.
Experience Madrid nightlife: tapas and drinks in La Latina or catch live music in Malasaña.
