Discover the heart of Nepal on a captivating journey through ancient villages, sacred sites, and lively traditions, blending authentic experiences with the warmth of local hospitality.
This morning we visit the villages of Bungamati and Khokana. Beginning in Bungamati, a 6th-century Newari village in Lalitpur, where time-honored traditions thrive. Wander cobbled lanes lined with carved wooden homes, and visit the shikhara-style Rato Machhendranath temple, a spiritual hub.
Nearby, Khokana enchants with its mustard oil presses and a striking three-story temple, showcasing Newari life amid lush fields. Engage with locals living in harmony with age-old customs, far from Kathmandu’s modern bustle.
Lunch with a View! Savor a delicious Nepalese lunch at Hotel Tibet International, overlooking the majestic Boudhanath Stupa.
In the afternoon we'll explore Boudhanath Stupa, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of Nepal’s holiest Buddhist monuments. Its 36-meter dome and prayer flag-lined paths hum with mantra chants. Then, in a nearby monastery, enjoy a rare private audience with a High Lama or Rinpoche, receiving personal guidance and a blessed khada scarf—a serene moment to cherish.
We begin the evenings festivities with a guided stroll through Kathmandu Durbar Square, a historic marvel of palaces and temples, including the Kumari’s residence. Then, hop on a colorful rickshaw and fasten your seatbelt for a thrilling ride through Thamel’s vibrant lanes, weaving past spice vendors and bustling shops.
We end the day with more excitement, a festive dinner at Khohang Thakali, where spicy curries and traditional Nepalese dances bring the evening to life with music and storytelling.
