Both Tulum and Cobá are reachable from Cozumel via ferry to the mainland and then a short drive. Tulum sits on a cliff overlooking the Caribbean — dramatic scenery with well-preserved temples and a beach at the base of the ruins. Cobá is deeper in the jungle and less visited; you can still climb the main pyramid for a sweeping view over the canopy. Either way, it's a full-day commitment, so plan accordingly and make sure the group is up for it. Book a guided excursion in advance — especially during the holiday week when spots go quickly.
