Mahahual is a small fishing village turned laid-back beach town about a 10-minute taxi ride from the Costa Maya port. The main strip, Malecon Mahahual, runs right along the water and is lined with open-air restaurants, beach bars, and hammocks strung between palms. It's far less developed than Cozumel and the pace reflects it. Grab a table at one of the waterfront spots, order fresh ceviche and a cold beer, and let the afternoon slow down. It's a good way to spend the morning hours before the ship departs at 2 PM.
