Today is one of the true highlights of your time in Vietnam—a full-day, fully immersive cave and jungle adventure in the Tu Lan cave system.
An early morning departure brings you to Tan Hoa Village (approx. 70 km), where you’ll meet your expert Oxalis guides, receive a safety briefing, and prepare for the day ahead.
Set out on foot through open farmland and across the Rao Nan River, gradually leaving the village behind as the landscape shifts to jungle and limestone karst. Your first stop is Rat Cave, where you’ll venture inside with helmets and headlamps to explore a striking chamber filled with dramatic formations, including a unique heart-shaped structure.
The journey continues deeper into the valley, with a steady climb over “Baby Hill” and into the rugged terrain surrounding Hung Ton Cave. Here, the adventure becomes more technical—descending into the cave via ladder and harness before continuing through a mix of dry passages and underground river.
Swim through sections of the cave with the support of your guides, emerging into the spectacular To Mo Valley—a hidden, jungle-fringed basin where you’ll pause for a well-earned lunch and time to relax or swim in the clear, emerald stream.
The return journey retraces your route through cave and countryside, offering a final chance to take in the scale and remoteness of this remarkable landscape before heading back to Tan Hoa.
Return to Phong Nha in the early evening (approx. 18:30–19:30), completing an unforgettable day of exploration.
Recommended Preparation:
This is an active day involving trekking, swimming, and basic climbing. Comfortable, quick-drying clothing and sturdy footwear are essential. Expect to get wet and embrace it—this is part of the experience.
