The rhythm of safari life takes over today - and honestly, it's the best routine you'll ever fall into.
Your day starts with an early wake-up call between 5:00 and 5:30am. Don't groan - this is the best alarm clock you've ever answered. Tea, coffee, and rusks are waiting before you climb into the open 4x4 and head out into the bush as the light turns gold and the animals begin to move. Your guide and tracker know this land intimately - they read the tracks, the sounds, the stillness - and they will put you in front of things that will stop your breath. Halfway through the drive there's a stop for hot drinks and snacks before returning to camp around 9am for a full breakfast.
Throughout the day, the bush comes to you. Nyala antelope and vervet monkeys are frequent visitors to the lodge, and spotting some of the Big Five from your villa terrace or the main deck is not uncommon. Guided bush walks with armed trackers are available after breakfast for those who want a closer look at the ecosystem most people miss from a vehicle.
At around 3:30pm, everyone gathers for a decadent high tea before heading back out for the afternoon drive. En route your ranger will stop for sundowners as the sun melts over the distant peaks of the Drakensberg mountains. As darkness falls the nocturnal animals emerge, and your tracker scans the bush with a spotlight - an entirely different world comes alive. You'll be back at the lodge around 7pm, just enough time to freshen up before a sumptuous dinner.
All meals, beverages, and game drive refreshments are included throughout the day.
