Settle into your first full day on the Coastal Express as the ship glides past a dramatic mix of fjords, jagged mountains, bustling cities, and tiny hamlets clinging to the shoreline. Each stop gives a glimpse of life along Norway’s legendary coast — but today’s highlight is a longer docking in Hammerfest, one of the world’s northernmost towns.
Here, we’ll set out on a scenic bus tour. Visit the museum that tells the story of how the town was rebuilt from ashes after World War II, then stand before the UNESCO-listed Meridian Column, a monument marking the northernmost point used to determine the size and shape of the Earth. Cap it off with sweeping views from the top of Mount Salen — where mountains and sea stretch as far as the eye can see.
Back on board, we’ll continue cruising south, docking in Tromsø close to midnight. But don’t be fooled by the hour — in summer, the city is still alive under glorious 24-hour daylight. You might just find yourself wandering the streets at midnight, coffee in hand, with the sun still shining overhead.
