Free morning sailing towards Nijmegen
Visit to Airborne Museum and Commonwealth War Cemetery
This morning is one of those pinch-me river-cruise moments. Wake to the quiet rhythm of the water and step outside with your coffee as we glide past storybook scenes — flower-decked houseboats, elegant windmills, and a countryside that looks like it was painted in soft pastels.
After a leisurely breakfast, we’ll dock near Nijmegen and make our way to Arnhem, where history feels close enough to touch. This was the site of the 1944 airborne operation made famous in A Bridge Too Far. We’ll visit the Airborne Museum in Oosterbeek — once the British 1st Airborne Division’s headquarters — and then pay our respects at the Commonwealth War Cemetery, a peaceful, moving place that reminds us just how much was sacrificed for the freedom we enjoy today.
Back on board, the evening unfolds with another wonderful dinner and conversation as the ship slips quietly through the Dutch waterways. The lights on the riverbanks twinkle, the wine flows, and you realize — you’re part of a very special journey. 🌙🕊️
