Option 1: Guided tour of Ghent, with afternoon at leisure
Option 2: Guided tour of Ypres, with visit to Tyne Cot
Today you get to choose your own adventure — and what a choice it is.
Option 1: Spend the day in Ghent, one of Belgium’s prettiest hidden gems. With its winding canals, storybook bridges, and rows of tall merchants’ houses, Ghent feels like a medieval fairy tale come to life. We’ll explore it with a local guide, who’ll bring the city’s history (and a few juicy legends) to life as we stroll the cobbled lanes. Don’t miss the magnificent Saint Bavo Cathedral, home to the world-famous Adoration of the Mystic Lamb — a masterpiece so detailed, you could spend an hour just admiring the angels’ wings.
After the tour, the afternoon is yours. Maybe linger along the Leie River with a Belgian waffle and a cappuccino, browse a few boutiques, or just sit and soak in the atmosphere.
Option 2: For those who want to honor history, join the full-day visit to Ypres and Tyne Cot Cemetery. Ypres was nearly destroyed during World War I, and walking its rebuilt streets today is both moving and humbling. You’ll have time to visit the Flanders Fields Museum, reflect at Tyne Cot’s sea of white headstones, and truly feel the weight of what happened here. It’s an experience that stays with you long after the trip ends.
Whichever path you choose, we’ll all meet back on board later to share stories over dinner — some inspiring, some emotional, all unforgettable. 🍷🌅
