This morning we leave Edinburgh behind and head north through Perthshire, Scotland's gateway to the Highlands. The landscape shifts gradually as the city gives way to river valleys, ancient woodland, and rolling green hills that just keep going. By the time we arrive in Pitlochry you will already feel like you are somewhere completely different.
When we arrive you'll immediately understand why people fall in love with this town. We take an orientation walk through the charming Victorian streets, following the river, taking in the traditional architecture, and getting our bearings before the afternoon begins.
From there we head to Blair Castle, one of Scotland's most visited and beloved castles. Your private guide leads a 50-minute tour through the historic interiors before you have time to wander the estate grounds at your own pace.
Lunch is on your own in Pitlochry and the rest of the afternoon and evening are completely free. A few ideas:
Pitlochry has some lovely spots for dinner and the pace here is noticeably slower than Edinburgh.
