Today you take the scenic route south and it is worth every mile.
Our first stop is Redcastle, a medieval castle ruin perched on a steep promontory overlooking the Beauly Firth on the Black Isle. A castle has stood on this site since 1179 when it was built by the brother of King William the Lion. It passed through the hands of Norman nobles, Scottish clans, and even Mary Queen of Scots before falling into the beautiful ruin it is today.
Right next door is Lunan Bay Farm, home to Scotland's only herd of regenerative cashmere goats, run by farmers Neil and Jillian McEwan. You will meet the goats, hear directly from the farmer about what it actually takes to grow cashmere sustainably in Scotland for the first time in decades, and learn how this small coastal farm is pioneering something genuinely significant. Then you sit down together for a farm to table lunch in the farmhouse garden, with locally sourced ingredients and views across one of the most unspoilt stretches of coastline in Scotland.
This is the kind of place that reminds you why you travel.
After lunch we head south back to Edinburgh where you will check into your hotel for the final chapter of the trip. The evening is yours.
