Today, you get your Hogwarts letter. Upon arrival in Fort William, we head straight for the main event: a journey on the legendary Jacobite Steam Train, known to millions around the world as the Hogwarts Express. This 42-mile trip is considered one of the greatest railway journeys in the world, and you're about to find out why.
To make sure everyone gets the full experience, we'll split the group in two. Half of you will board the steam train for the outbound journey to the coast, while the other half will have some free time in Fort William before taking the scenic coach drive to meet you in Mallaig. (Don't worry, you'll swap for the return trip, so everyone gets both experiences).
As the train chugs out of the station, you'll be glued to the window. The journey takes you past stunning lochs, through dramatic glens, and over the iconic, 21-arched Glenfinnan Viaduct. This is the moment you've been waiting for. The train will overlook Loch Shiel and the Jacobite Monument, and if time permits, it may even pause on the viaduct, giving you the perfect opportunity to capture that famous Harry Potter movie shot.
Upon arrival in the bustling fishing port of Mallaig, you'll have approximately 2.5 to 3 hours of free time to explore, shop, and grab lunch on your own. Mallaig is the fresh seafood capital of the Highlands, and you'll be spoiled for choice.
