Overview
Today you will reach the close town of Troia, a charming medieval town nestled among the Dauni Mountains and overlooking the Tavoliere plain. Known as the “City of the Rose Window,” Troia is famous for its magnificent Romanesque Co-Cathedral, a true masterpiece of stone and art blending Pisan, Byzantine, and Islamic influences.
After the visit of the Cathedral, you will taste the Passionata, a traditional dessert originating in Troia and in recent years a symbolic expression of the local pastry tradition. It is reminiscent of a Sicilian cassatina. The dessert is made in 11 variations, a tribute to the famous rose window of Troia Cathedral, which features 11 rays instead of the traditional 12.
