Seward might be the most beautiful embarkation port in Alaska - surrounded on all sides by Kenai Fjords National Park, Chugach National Forest, and Resurrection Bay, it's a town that makes you wish you had more time before the ship sailed. Founded in 1903 as a railroad terminus, it's remained refreshingly small (about 2,750 people) and genuinely unpretentious. It's also the primary gateway to Kenai Fjords National Park, where calving glaciers and marine life - sea otters, puffins, orcas, humpbacks - are reliably spectacular.
What we'd suggest: Arrive at least a day early. A Kenai Fjords National Park boat tour before embarkation is one of the best days you can have in Alaska. We'll help you arrange it.
