Day 2: BASEL, SWITZERLAND - THE DECISION
Spend a full day in Basel, Switzerland’s third-largest city, situated on the three-nation border of Switzerland, France, and Germany. A university and banking hub for centuries, Basel’s glorious past is visible everywhere.
Today you have a choice to make, as we have two separate paths for your included exploration:
- Option A: Dive Deeper into Basel’s Culture. Stay in this Med-climate gateway city. You could choose to dive into the visual history of Basel’s medieval town hall, decorated market square, and exquisite 18th-century homes. Alternatively, experience the literal "gateway" with a distinct guided cycle tour that carries you seamlessly through three countries; Switzerland, France, and Germany - all in one adventure. For those not choosing Option B, the afternoon offers further exploration: sipping unique Swiss vintages at a local winery, or ascending the fortress walls of Wildegg Castle, a Habsburg-built stronghold featuring a spectacular 3,300-square-meter garden.
- Option B: The Alps (Included Full-Day Excursion). This is the visual answer to why you booked this cruise. Swap the ship for a comfortable motorcoach and dedicate the full day to the glacial beauty of nearby Lake Lucerne. Explore the medieval Towers, gaze at the peaks from Chapel Bridge, and experience the beauty of the Swiss Alps.
